Name: Flowey (Real name: Asriel)
Age: Unknown, possibly thousands of years old
AU/PG/CANON/OC: Undertale (Canon)
Summary:
History:
Asriel Dreemurr was the child of two monsters named Toriel and Asgore. Sometime in his life, a human named Chara fell into the underworld and they became friends. However, as months passed, Chara became ill and tried manipulating Asriel for his own ends. When Chara died, Asriel absorbed Chara's soul and tried to bury the human on the surface world. The humans saw him and attacked him, thinking he was the one that killed Chara. Asriel managed to escape, but not before getting some fatal wounds. He sadly succumbed to them after escaping back to the Underworld and turned into ash, both Asriel's and Chara's souls fading.
Alphys did her experiments, injecting the combination of determination and Asriel's ashes into a flower that had sprouted in his parents' garden. It was only after Alphys thought his experiments were a failure that Asriel came back to life as a flower. However, it was too late and Asriel's feelings and souls had long since disappeared. He called out to his father, but it took months for Asgore to find his son. They reunited, his father nicknaming his son "Flowey". This didn't last too long, as Flowey found out he was incapable of love or compassion.
He ran away from his father and eventually found Toriel, his mother. He tried staying with her in order to see if he could feel his love and compassion or any other feeling come back to him. Sadly, his mother didn't affect him in any way at all. He was in so much despair over losing his friend, his love, and his soul that he attempted to kill himself. He succeeded, but became afraid what would happen to himself after dying, as he didn't have a soul. Determined to live on, he found himself waking up when he first did at his father's garden.
This is where he decided to experiment with his newfound powers. He killed himself and returned back to his "save point" every single time he died. He eventually decided to dedicate his time to helping everyone. He did. Over and over. That turned boring with him, so he eventually started growing more and more malevolent. He annoyed people which turned into hurting people which turned into torturing people which turned into killing people. Over and over, he looped and did everything his creativity allowed him to do. Eventually, he started to grow bored of everything.
This is where Frisk fell into the underworld. Flowey thought Frisk was Chara, as they looked so much alike. It was as if Frisk was Chara reincarnated. However, Flowey attempted to trick Frisk and kill him to take his soul. Toriel saved Frisk and Flowey tried loading a savestate only to find out that he couldn't. Through careful manipulation, he followed Frisk to the end of his journey. Frisk weakened Asgore to the point where Flowey could land the killing blow and absorb the six human souls Asgore had. Flowey then tried fighting Frisk in order to gain the seventh and become a god to exterminate mankind. He failed, Frisk calling out to the human souls to help him, and eventually defeated Flowey.
Frisk spared Flowey, even after he taunted that he'd kill Frisk's loved ones and friends. Not understanding the compassion and mercy Frisk had, Flowey ran away to regroup and replan. Flowey reached out to Frisk to tell him to go back to a previous savepoint and that Alphys might need a friend and want to hang out. He then went to Papyrus, one of Frisk's friend, and told him to gather everyone he can to stop the fight between Asgore and the human. His plan worked flawlessly, and everyone was gathered into the same room, friends, family, and other citizens of the underworld. While they were distracted, Flowey took the six souls and absorbed all the monster souls in the room. This allowed him to have the equivalent of seven human souls and one monster soul and allowed him to regain his form as Asriel Dreemur.
Frisk and Asriel fought, Asriel slowly revealing his true motive was to make it so that the two would never be separated ever again. Unleashing his full power, he trapped Frisk and made him unable to move at all. Running out of options, Frisk called to all his friends, saving their souls... Including Asriel's. He repeatedly called out to Asriel's soul, full intent on saving him. This eventually broke Asriel down enough for him to stop fighting and realize his and everyone elses' compassion and care for each other. With his final momentd as Asriel, he broke the seal, returned back to where Frisk first fell, and returned everyone's souls. Everyone decided to go live in the surface world except for Flowey. He thought it was too dangerous for him to go as he thinks he has a chance at hurting others.
Personality:
Flowey is soulless and unfeeling. He's utterly incapable of feeling love or compassion or regret or pride or mercy or pity. Despite all that's happened and Frisk saving his soul when he had one, he cannot experience emotions to a point and will likely use logic in all of his decisions. He's very savvy at what he can and cannot do and will act accordingly to whatever circumstances throw at him.
Despite being emotionless, he is extremely, EXTREMELY determined to do what he wants to do. He'll actually be stubborn enough to continue with what he's doing unless someone logically points out why he should stop. However, this does not mean he can't stop on his own if he thinks it isn't logical to do so.
Flowey is very keen on calling people out on their actions, whether it be a simple mistake that lead to a horrible tragedy, someone continuously being merciless and genocidal, or even having a flawed morality where the person decides what's wrong or right in a hypocritical way. He might even have the guts to call out people that just say and watched if something bad happened and the person had the opportunity to stop it... or even if they couldn't but found the horrible thing entertaining.
After Frisk saved him, he's decided to try and factor emotion-based responses and will guess on how to react based on his former self of Asriel. He'd try and act timid and be kindhearted and loving while also being a little bit of a jokester. Even though he is unable to feel anything, he'll pretend. It's the best he's got.
He still secretly wants a soul and will do a lot of things he won't be proud of if he manages to get them. He will sometimes shows hints of jealousy and anger whenever he sees someone acting happy or feel guilt-ridden or other strong displays of emotion. However, despite him being unfeeling, he also has a very strong sense of self-preservation and WILL do anything he can think of in order to stay alive, even if others consider it unforgivable.
Gem Considerations: Epidote (1,2,3,4)
The epidote will be placed at the back of his "head", where the stem and receptacle connect. He'll have to learn to have to trust others to watch his back. Literally.
Epidote is the increasing stone, said to have the power to increase what the person touches. This can be both a good and bad thing. If you experience joy, more joy will be bought into your life, and if you experience spite, you will become more and more spiteful. This will be a struggle for Flowey. He actually IS in danger of reverting back to his "kill or be killed" mentality, so he will have to chose his goals and perceived outside emotions he shows carefully. If he's good, he will become good. If he's bad, he will become bad. It's his choice, and he has to reap what he sows.
Power considerations:
List Three Powers You Would Like Your Character To Have:
He'll be extremely confused at first, but instantly willing to experiment just how far his powers go. Due to his tendency toward the "kill or be killed" mentality that may still linger, he'll lean toward trying to gain more and more power. However, that might not be an entirely good thing for him as he'll have to realize.
Sample:
"Frisk..."
Flowey turned toward the human child. It didn't really matter to him if he wasn't Chara. With the compassion he had before he lost it, he was very thankful that Frisk had helped him. The soulless flower smiled, a kind thing to do, even if it was merely a lie.
"It's good to see you again."
At length, Flowey was quiet for a couple moments. He then smiled again.
"Heh... Looks like you and I aren't in Kansas anymore." Excitement then made itself known on Flowey's face. It was a lie, but not as much as the last two smiles were. He really WAS interested in what this world has to offer. All these 'gems' people called themselves. It was so similar to the underworld in many ways, yet completely different in others. Flowey reasoned that absolutely no one would pass up the opportunity to reside in this world for a time.
"A whole new world... and I have absolutely no idea how it works. I won't get bored one bit."
And then came Flowey giving a somewhat awkward cough. There was still one little problem. How long will he be here? How long will Frisk be here? How many loops would there be? "...F- for a while... We'll see how long it lasts."
Flowey closed his eyes, a sad smile appearing. Would Frisk have to fight Flowey again? Will he go out of control? If they DO fight... will Frisk be able to save him again? The world feels different, almost as if it's suppressing his powers to a point. And if it's suppressing his powers, it should be suppressing everyone else, right?
But enough about that. Flowey opens his eyes with a look of determination. "But as long as it does... I'll be fine living here with you, Frisk."
